The most amazing authentic meal I have had! Everything had amazing flavor, neatly and cleanly packaged. I had a special request and it was honored! This is enough to feed two people and it's sold as a single meal! It's not overwhelmingly spicy so flavorful! You will enjoy! So thankful!

The Afang and Fufu is delicious. The soup I would compare to an american collard greens potlicker. Much milder in salt than "potlicker" would suggest but savor and rich flavor full and robust, without being salty at all. Dark in color, no bitter notes, a smooth and balanced bite that coats a sticky clump of neutral mashed potatoes (FuFu explained for the texture challenged eaters). Chopped greens make it easy to chew without being mushy, would pair well with bread or white rice if fufu is not your thing. Tinder bites of meat sum up a larger than expected portion size for the price of this great meal. African food is not meant to be eaten with an American mindset nor palate. Its not a bowl of collard greens with smoked turkey legs or neck bones. The sauce or soup is water based and not very thick but it is hearty and filling. Largely because of the FuFu. I'm excited to try the fish protein option next. I've had the beef, goat meat, and OXTAILS!

Coming from California and looking for the culture variety that we have in California, I must say I'm happy to have stumbled across Clark's. They don't really honor the meat selection options but their stews come with plenty of whatever meat they choose to give you and it's flavorful 😋

It saddens me to have to say this, but I am NOT happy with my order this time at all! I order from this restaurant often & I am really disappointed this go around. The portion size is already small to begin with. To then receive the food & the container is half empty is disheartening! They gave me more palm oil, & less Egusi. The Egusi was much more spicer than I remember & it was almost inedible for me. If you are OK with spicy you would have enjoyed it. The three small oxtails I did receive were burned possibly due to over-searing, & they put two bones in there that had no meat on them just fatty chunks. (Not sure the reasoning behind that) The FuFu was good as it always is; which is my favorite part of the entire meal usually. In all transparency, this feels like today must have been an off day. However, it begs to be said that this is my second low quality order that I have recieved from here & I just didn't share this openly. I pray this is not the beginning of the end; trending downwards on food quality. I ordered as soon as they opened strategically, with the hopes of good, fresh food, & I expected better. I take pride in supporting all the small businesses in my area & I purposely order from as many as I can; intentionally doing my part to keep them open, operational, & thriving against the statistic of 90% of new restaurants failing within the first year of their start up. I especially take care to suport all black owned & operated businesses as there aren't many of us in my area. That said, the menu is already pricey which I dont complain about; I understand inflation. Yet, for $30 & upwards after all the DoorDash fees, taxes, & tips on the backend, I deserved better than this. It is my hope that the team reads this review & really take this as constructive critisim as I am a black owned & operated non profit business owner myself. I truly understand your plight. PLEASE be mindful of your loyal consumer base. Slow down & review your orders before you push them out. Please take into consideration that this could have been someone's last bit of money & this meal needed to last them an entire day. Would you eat this if you received it? How would YOU feel spending your hard earned money on a meal you didn't enjoy from a restaurant you usually love? Im gonna take a break from ordering for a while & hopefully if there is a next time, in the future, things will be better. Take note though: You are the only resturant serving traditional African cuisine in an over 50 mile radius in all four directions! You have the market comfortably cornered! While you have the open advantage, don't fumble the bag & continue this pattern of pushing out low quality goods just to meet the demand & risk losing your loyal consumer base due to reducing the quality of your meal production, presentation, & overall customer exeperince. Always remember your why & please, do better!
