Sorry, no photo. The picadillo (seasoned ground beef) EMPANADAS CUBANAS was delicious, and just the right size. This savory little meat pie will fill you up without being too much. Perfect for brunch or just a midmorning snack. I think I may try the chicken one tomorrow.
Latte was the perfect complement to the food.

Didn't get a photo. The SANDWICH CUBANO is one big, tasty sandwich. It's a hot ham and pork sandwich (the pork is shredded) on a ginormous french roll, pressed in a panini press so it gets even bigger. Served with dill pickles on sandwich and ruffled potato chips on the side. I'm not normally a big ham sandwich fan, but the combination of the salty ham, sour pickles and chewy French bread is just about irresistable.
The sandwich is conveniently cut in half so that if you can't finish it all, you can put away the other half for tomorrow's lunch, or share it with a friend.
All that salt will make you thirsty; fortunately this cafe has a wide variety of coffee and tea drinks at reasonable prices. The Cold Brew comes black unless you order one of their non-dairy milk alternatives ($1.00 more), or you could add your own sugar and cream from home if you like it sweeter.

I had tried both the chicken and beef Empanadas Cubanas / Cuban Empanadas before, so today I tried the other two flavors. Spinach empanada is savory and filling. The guava flavor (marked by a cute star) was sweet and tart, with a flavor somewhat like strawberry.
I will definitely order both again.
Cafe Americano is always good, with a rich, smoky flavor.

Tamales Cubano are becoming my new favorite food. They are a little larger than Mexican tamales, and not as spicy. One tamal is good for a snack, but if you're super hungry, or the tamales are going to be your whole meal, I'd recommend getting two. A soft, savory little meat pie that you can eat with your hands.
20 oz mocha satisfied my chocolate cravings and helped me wake up from a long afternoon nap.

It was refreshing to get something different from the pizza, a buger, taco norm.
I got a pollo/shredded chicken and guava Empanadas Cubanas / Cuban Empanadas .
The chicken empanada was nicely flavored but after a few bites it really needed a sauce or something to cut the dryness.
About halfway through I knew for sure they cook, debone and shred themselves. I got a small piece of rib. The next bite had another small piece of rib. I only had two more bites when Igot a third piece of bone and just couldn't continue eating it.
I get that it is tedious when cooking and prepping and chicken has bones, but when you are in business you really have to be careful as it can be a choking hazard or in my case, off-putting. I ended up tossing what was left of it and moved on to dessert.
I was pleasantly surprised to find two small pockets of yummy goodness nestled in the box. They were still nice and warm.
Tender pastry with a subtlety sweet filling that just hit the spot. It is fabulous on its own but add a dollop of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream and you would have a humble but decadent dessert.
After eating about 2/3 of the chicken empanada, I could only eat one so I gaveone more for later! Yummy!
I would definitely order the guava Empanadas Cubanas / Cuban Empanadas again but probably not the chicken.
