The sandwiches are great, the Chicken Tortilla Soup is perfect on a cold day, and the Caramel Apple Lemonade is ridiculously good.

I ordered the Country Potato Soup and a kids baked potato. The cookie was missing, there was no silverware and the bacon on the child's potato was not cut up at all. If you have small children this is a choking hazard so beware. I have not eaten here in years because I had bad past experiences but I will say that they made sure the Country Potato Soup did not spill be cause it was covered in plastic wrap. I will probably pass on this restaurant going forward and find a similar restaurant.

I order this often. The sandwich is seriously lacking chicken salad.

Subpar quality compared to other locations, no pickle given, and sandwich made sloppy and skimped on ingredients.

I gave McAlister’s Deli’s chicken and dumplings a try, hoping for a warm, comforting classic—but what I got was something closer to a regret in a bowl. The flavor was fine, nothing special but passable for a quick meal. However, the texture? That’s where it all went downhill.
Instead of a balanced mix of tender chicken and soft-but-firm dumplings in a cozy broth, this dish was a chunky, gluey mess. There was no broth to speak of—just a thick, starchy paste that felt more like school cafeteria slop than Southern comfort food. The dumplings had the consistency of overcooked biscuit dough crossed with instant mashed potatoes. It was giving baby food. It was giving soggy pudding. It was not giving “dumplings.”
The chicken itself was decent, but completely lost in the heavy, mushy texture of everything else. If you’re expecting something with balance, texture, or even basic structure—this isn’t it.

It fills you up, but so would a bowl of wallpaper paste. I would not order again.

Freshness was completely lacking—definitely not what I expect from McAlister’s Deli. The entire meal felt tired and thrown together.
Not pictured: the baked potato, which was hands down the driest potato I’ve ever attempted to eat. Might as well toss it in a campfire next time and call it charcoal. Absolutely disappointing.
Portions were fine for both.
