The Fried Hot Tamales (4) were absolutely AMAZING! Seriously, they are incredible. Trying them is a must.
Aside from the Fried Hot Tamales (4), I also got the To Go Lunch Buffet, consisting of chicken and dumplings, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and Mexican cornbread, with the white chocolate bread pudding, for dessert. While, I would have preferred for the mashed potatoes to have gravy on them, they were actually very nicely seasoned, and the dumplings, macaroni and cheese, and bread pudding were all delightful.
As a huge Gumbo fan, I simply couldn't resist adding a cup of it, to my order. Unfortunately, it is the reason I elected to give my order only 4-stars rather than 5. The Gumbo tasted and looked like it was out of a can, with tiny pieces of cubed chicken and thin slices of "smoked sausage" that looked closer to the size and color of sliced Vienna sausages. I hate to say this, but it kind of reminded me of a Dinty Moore product--and not their delicious beef stew --The other ones. It was also very similar, yet somehow worse, than the gumbo at Danvers. Anyway, it needs some work.
That being said, I would still highly recommend The Gin...just not the gumbo lol.
*The photos, of my order, are after I ate a few bites...It looked so good, I couldn't keep myself from digging in!
