This sounds crazy, but the Liver & Onions LuAnn is always crazy good, and same for the Chicken Fried Steak Combo! I think this is the only place that still does a diner style liver and onions that is always consistent and delicious! Or honestly, the only place. Not sure. I hope other places try to bring back the old school like that, but who knows right? 10/10

I love Luby's for the veggies; the skillet fried cabbage and sweet potatoes were very good. The chicken tenders were perfectly done a golden brown and the cream gravy was the perfect thickness. When I want veggies, Luby's is one of two places I go because of the variety; it's not all starches, beans and coleslaw. Thank you.

The chicken fried chicken with brown gravy was very good; it was moist and golden brown and very plentiful. I love their cabbage most of the time but it could have been cooked longer this time. As much as I love their cabbage most of the time, I would have liked having the other vegetable side, fried cauliflower, I chose instead of two servings of the cabbage. The white roll was soft and still warm when my food was delivered. I would give Luby's 4 stars simply because of the snafu with the veggies.

The three veggies I selected were wonderful and a delightful change from the standard fare offered from other restaurants. The pea salad I asked them to substitute for the carrot raisin salad, which I love, was delicious! The brisias potatoes were slightly overdone, which I can understand since I ordered late in the lunch timeframe. The skillet fried cabbage is a veggie I rarely pass on because I really enjoy it. There were two things that kept them from getting 5 stars: I requested jalapeño cornbread but got regular and I ordered a Fountain Diet Coke that was totally missing that I expect a refund for on my debit card. All in all, it was a delicious and nice lunch.

I ordered the iconic Luby's Fried Fish with skillet fried cabbage and a cucumber salad. The very best item was the cabbage. The fish was nowhere near the taste and quality I remember from my visits to Luby's. There was a very thick breading surrounding a smallish piece of fish that I'll testify wasn't cod (which it used to be). The cucumber salad was non-descript. Since Luby's has closed in my neighborhood I was happy to see the cafeteria pop up on Door Dash. I don't know if I'll try ordering again with a different entree. This time was a disappointment.
