I don’t order out a ton of fast food anymore, I’m 64 years old and that’s not wise of me to be doing. I’ve been holed up in a physical rehab facility for the past four plus months trying to rehab my legs after a pretty big stair fall. The food provided within this facility is abysmal and so tonight when I could bear to eat what they were serving I had a hankering for Portillo’s. I wanted a jumbo hotdog for my dinner and something else for later, one of their jumbo tamales. Growing up as a kid in a small town and playing Little League baseball, the recreation association held a yearly all-star tournament and it was pretty special when my tea wasn’t playing and I’d show up on my bicycle to watch the others, and I could buy a Tamale for just 15 cents. Oh how I loved them/ My hotdog tonight was outstanding, everything on it but Onions and Peppers. My Tamale, however, was otherworldly. It tasted exactly as I remember them tasting more than 50 years ago, but much bigger and more grand. They cost a bit more than 15 cents but are well worth the asking price. I have a feeling I will be dining upon them once again very soon. Thanks Portillo’s they were outrageously great. And to the delivery driver from Door Dash, thank-you. This young man had it here in a flash and even brought it up to my room. Give that man a raise!

I love portillo's, and it's my go to for italian beef, but I think they're getting out of their lane trying breakfast. The plain coffee was weak and sickeningly sweet (only one sugar), the chocolate cake coffee was also undrinkable due to the sugar levels, and the Polish Sausage, Egg, & Cheese Meal was salty and greasy. The Portillo's Chocolate Cake Donut on the other hand? Absolute perfection, and would highly recommend.

Meatball sandwhich was very good. I ordered extra sauce but didnt need it. I forgot hot and sweet peppers was good without.
