The Angus Chopped Steak had a texture that I didn't like. The brown gravy as well as onions on the chopped steak was very good, but the Chopped Steak was not very good. All of the vegetables were Awesome, lightly seasoned and very tasty. The Mexican Cornbread was very good, with just enough heat that was very tasty. The regular cornbread was okay, not great, but not bad either. I was expecting my late mothers Cast Iron Skillet Cornbread as well as the Mexican Iron Skillet Cornbread and there is no comparison.... grading my late Mom's vs this Cafe's Cornbread is late mom "A+" ---- cafe' "C-" ....
I am not picky, but one would think that the Iron Skillet Cornbread from the 'Fresh Market Cafe' would at the very least have a similar taste as to my late mothers. There is NO comparison in taste and texture as the FMCafe, my late moms had a light and fluffy texture with not needing hardly any butter to get the flavor 'awake.' The Cafe's cothick like cheesecake and not a light taste at all. If I order from here again, I will be getting the chicken as the meat and the same veggies as the Lima beans, blackeyed peas, steamed squash, steamed broccoli were All Very Very Good. The "fried okra" was soggy :( in which the soggy fried okra didn't have the crispness nor the flavor that usually accompany Fried Okra (I even placed in the notes section to please keep the Fried Okra and Cornbreads separate from any foods that could leak onto the Fried Okra or the Mexican Cornbread nor their Iron Skillet Cornbread to be soggy and mine was soggy ruining the taste of all 3.
Grading my 2 meals on a scale of 0 (the worst) and 5 (Awesome)
Angus Chopped Steak 3 for the texture. The flavor and seasoning was good, but the texture just ruined the entree'
Black-Eyed Peas 5 ---- the flavor n seasoning were like my late moms
Lima Beans 5 ---- the flavor and crispness of the Lima Beans were excellent
Fried Okra 1 --- the fried okra being soggy, ruined the flavor and texture of the okra
Steamed Broccoli 2 the broccoli was good, but the failure to put the cheese sauce on the broccoli, that was an option, took away any flavor I was expecting.
The Steamed Yellow Squash 5 the quash was excellent with the perfect amount of seasoning.& texture
Overall for the Angus Chopped Steak and Three Veggies Plate was an
overall 3 for both meals.
I don't understand why restaurants get orders wrong when its written out (or typed) for them. Each customer is different and have different tastes for the food that each restaurant makes. When a Home-Cooked meal from a restaurant called "Fresh Market Cafe" to be a notch above all other restaurants that serve this type of food. When Fried Foods are soggy because the Cafe fails to read what the customer orders effects all of the staff of this restaurant.
I am fair and I was a bit timid about ordering the Angus Chopped Steak as I couldn't tell what the texture the steak would be. Fresh Market Cafe did separate the Mexican n Cornbread that I ordered as a separate item. The Mexican Cornbread that came with both Entrees (one entree I got the regular Iron Skillet Cornbread) were both pretty good, but the failure to separate the cornbread from other entrees that have gravy, veggie juices, and other entrees that can influence the taste of the cornbread one would think that at the very least the Cafe would automatically put ANY bread items or Fried foods either in a separate box or at the very wrap them in tin foil, separate the foods with sauces or gravy to the bottom part of the styrofoam tray with entree compartments and place at least 3 of those waxy food grade sheets from just outside the bottom portion of the "to-go" box and put a small strip of tape to the outside when lid is closed...... Also to make sure that the meal you prepared by hand arrives at the Customer's table by placing any breads and/or fried veggies in separate (the serving size) separate container. This may raise the costs of your non-food supplies, but the very small cost will pay for itself many times over as commenting on the meal that you just had or the meal you had at a restaurant lately and having the Best Advertising In The World that is absolutely Free being:

And chocolate pie is scrumpsious. Also, the chopped steak is tender and delicious. The veggies are the best, all (I have hah them all) and always fresh. Thank you, Freah Market!
