Both the cookies and cream and mint chip were AMAZING! got a waffle cone and waffle bowl and those were fabulous. Glad we ordered from here for a late night ice cream party

I was a devotee of Jubilee for years - I know the people who work there by name and they know me. They made fresh, delicious ice cream with real ingredients -not artificial flavors or additives. They always had new and interesting flavors to try. Their fresh minty chip was my favorite - you could really taste the fresh mint burst in your mouth. However, this year I have noticed several disturbing changes - most notably that their ice cream just does not taste that good anymore. Their fresh minty chip started tasting like any generic mint chip you can find at Safeway or Giant and then it disappeared, replaced by a mint brownie that is 70% brownie and 30% ice cream. Then I noticed they stopped making the other flavors with fresh herbs and fruit. It no longer tastes fresh or homemade - just go get a tub of that cloyingly sweet dairy dessert with all the candy and cookies - cheaper and tastes the same. The straw that broke this camel's back was that they started to add and then increase the amount of gums in their ice cream. Edible gums, like guar and xantham, which they now use, are cost cutters - they are used to create "creaminess" with inferior ingredients and to extend the shelf life of the ice cream. However these gums are not easily digestible for many people (diarrhea, cramps, bloating, etc.). Jubilee marketed itself on the freshness and quality of ingredients. So why the change? Well, apparently the creator/owner of Jubilee sold Jubilee at the beginning of this year. I am passionate about ice cream, clearly the founder was as well, but these owners seem all about the Benjamin's. They are trying to sell us an inferior product hoping that the reputation of Jubilee is strong enough that us newbs won't notice that the ice cream is no longer fresh and all the beloved flavors using fresh herbs and fruit are gone, replaced by ice cream filled of additives and highly processed ingredients which can be prevered for longer but are not as good for your body. It may still be called Jubilee and the prices are the same, but this is no longer the Jubilee i knew and loved. It's a sad day.
