These were freaking amazing! Taste is fresh and very tasty. We need more puerorican spots like this in Brooklyn.

I ordered the PASTELON - PUERTO RICAN PLANTAIN LASAGNA OUR WAY I wanted to try it without tomatoes or an alternative sauce but was declined. I have a tomato allergy but was prepared to take the hit with my benadryl because I had to try it lol. It was very oily and sorry to say and I actually can't believe I'm saying this there was too much meat? or the ratio was wayyy off I was expecting plantain in every bite with even amounts of cheese and meat. Not LASAGNA like at all. Pastelon is better than this no nostalgia. Half my plate was meat and bland. I was expecting layers but it literally was just one layer of each. The meat needed more seasoning. There should've been at least 2 layers. Not enough of each ingredient. Not worth 20$ I will make this at home for Thanksgiving. For my first time the lack of flexibility with the menu would not make me want to return. So I took off a star but as a plantain lover I couldn't drop it lower than 4. There are not that many places serving maduro/sweet plantain on the menu so you haven't lost me yet.

This food was awful. The alcapurria barely had any meat. It was flavorless. The outside of it looked like it had been fried several times and there was a pool of oil in the bag they put it in. The relleno de papa was a bit better but still really greasy but it did not taste like the puerto rican flavor i was expecting. The TRIPLETA BORICUA SANDWICH - STEAK, ROASTED PORK & HAM sandwich was a mess! The bread was soggy with grease, all the meat was thrown in all together and looked nothing like the picture. The steak overpowered the taste of the pernil and ham. Everything tasted the same but it wasnt really a good taste and their were no potato sticks in it. I really wanted to enjoy this food that was made like it is in the isla but this wasnt it. It seems like they fell off from when they first opened.

Puertorican born and raised. The rice was hard, the beans weren't my favorite, it had a strong flavor of something I can't named, the tostones were soft and they were not authentic but the garlic sauce was good. They were probably frozen tostones but nothing like chinese-puertorican tostones. The bistec encebollado was okay. My favorite thing was the EMPANADILLA (EMPANADA) Pastelon - Picadillo, Maduros & Cheese. That was good. If you are looking for authentic puertorican rice and beans and bistec you won't find it here, but it isn't that bad. Just not my taste. Good portion of food.

The bacalaito was over cooked hard and chewy. The ensalada de pulpo was scare mostly onions. The empanadilla de pollo was very dry. The "tasty beans" were an embarrassment. It did not look like the picture at all. I couldn't say about the maduros or the Arroz con Gandules because I didn't receive them. The portions were lacking. It seemed as though they ran out of rice and food so I got whatever was left. Very misleading. Very disappointing experience considering on how much I paid for this. I Would not order again not worth the disappointment and this wasn't a money issue it was a quality and portion issue.
