Their garlic naan is my favorite in the area (moist unlike the drier naan from other restaurants). The chana masala is thick and gravy like; super delicious! Aloo Gobi is also good~ chicken biriyani is amazing. Only sad thing is the aloo palak has cream in it so my vegan gf cannot eat it

Best Daal Chicken I've ever had. Chicken was juicy and tender and the spices in the daal were flavorful. Spice level was also spot on.

This is, in my opinion the best north indian restaurant in the city!
The vegetable dishes in particular seem to be a level above other restaurants in the area:
* everything is well spiced, and I think the cinnamon they use in particular stands out and makes a noticeable difference in a number of dishes
* The baigan bharta has chunks of fresh and flavorful roasted eggplant which give a nice balance to the sweet and tangy tomato--it's not just the bitter paste you might get at other restaurants
* The bhindi is also fresh and has a noticeable acidity--they may add a splash of vinegar or citrus--but it's unique and works well. The texture of the okra is neither too slimy or too fibrous
* The paneer is also excellent, absorbing the complex flavors of each different curry while being neither too soft and watery nor hard and dry
* "Medium" spice is a bit mild, so I recommend ordering spicy!

My GO TO always for Indian! I always order their tikki masala which is so creamy and the vegetable samosas are to die for. Highly recommend ocean indian to all!

Favorite Indian in SF right now. Butter chicken and chicken momos are exceptional with so much flavor. Coconut curry good too.
