special laksa 混合喇沙汤面 , like Sarawak laksa. Not the right brand of vermicelli noodles. Too fine and soft. I did not like my broccoli yellow (broccoli doesn't belong in laksa, use French beans), hard cubes of tofu (should be tofu puffs), mushy fried eggplant and chunks of chicken (should be slices of chicken or a chicken piece). Missing beanshoots. However, the taste of the laksa soup was complex, a bit smoky and interesting. Mouth feels clean afterwards, so I am thinking not a lot of canned coconut milk? Or, a coconut milk substitute?
Char Keow Teow with Duck Egg 鸭蛋炒粿条 , outstanding and I savoured every morsel. It's not just the sauce which was again, complex and interesting, this CKT is quite honestly, one of the best I have ever tried. The hor fun noodles are the same texture as the chee cheong fun and a beautiful texture, slippery and soft. Some people will prefer a drier fried CKT. I guess you can always request it? This dish has an often missing ingredient: chives and I thought I could taste clams.
Both dishes were a tad too sweet and a little under salted, but most people will not notice. Very Singaporean taste. Not a lot of MSG. You can tell by how thirsty you feel afterwards. Authentic hawker meals. Good size servings.
