Recently, the service and customer service have been hit or miss. Today, I ordered nine beignets and three coffees. First, let me say the Medium Roast had a fantastic flavor profile. I ordered the coffee and my Americano black/no milk since I prefer my at-home creamer, and honestly, we didn't even need it.
The main issue was the service and how we received our order. I wanted to show my dad the overall ambiance of PJs, so we decided to wait inside. Three tickets sat on the counter when we arrived, and people who walked in at the same time as us and after us were placing and receiving completed orders before we were even acknowledged. A customer walked out because she was not acknowledged/greeted after waiting a considerable amount of time at the register.
To be fair, it appeared that order tickets were not coming in correctly, and they looked short-staffed (only two people), but it wasn't busy enough for the poor service. One barista was trying to clean and do (what appeared to be downtime activities as there wasn't anything to clean) before ever greeting or acknowledging us, and we were there waiting for about 20 minutes. Finally, after they fixed a few of the discrepancies for other customers, I told them the order I was there for and was told it was still being prepared (about 30 minutes after arriving). Then we were handed our coffees without a drink tray; some minutes later, 6/9 beignets were brought out, and at least another 10/15 minutes later, we finally received the last 3.
When I asked for drink stoppers, and they were out. I'm not one to gripe over a stocking issue, but at this point, most of what I ordered would be lukewarm at best, with the hottest, freshest thing being the last three beignets. Getting home (only a 10-minute drive), the three beignets were the only warm items.
At the end of my experience, I had to package my own order and request service. After receiving incorrect items and rude service in the past, I’ve rationalized that the great food and coffee made up for that minor part of any negative experience I might have when coming here. Unfortunately, today, my dad, who was first interested in making PJs his go, won't be coming back & I'm not sure I will either ☹️
