This was THE WORST PREPARATION of shrimp and pasta we have EVER eaten, and amongst the worst food we have ever eaten, in general. This was our first experience eating from an Applebee's; we are lacto vegetarian/pescatarian, and never eat at bar/grill type places. We were given a DoorDash promotion and Applebee's was the only late-night choice, as we do eat fish & seafood. We feel that the quality was far more on par with FAST FOOD than wholesome RESTAURANT FOOD, which you would EXPECT to be of authentic, quality ingredients. I regret not submitting a rating on DoorDash for our 6/29/23 order, and the opportunity has expired.
BEWARE! THIS PASTA IS NOT MADE IN THE STANDARD CULINARY TRADITION OF ALFREDO UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! The restaurant must change their recipe and stop duping the American public into believing they are serving quality. The pasta was pasty and not cooked properly; however, the most unappealing and shocking aspect, is that they use a YELLOW CHEESE as the sauce for this pasta??!! THIS IS NOT AT ALL AN ITALIAN ALFREDO RECIPE. Alfredo is butter and Parmigiano ONLY, which produces a smooth, rolling cream sauce. Applebee's recipe is like "boxed macaroni & cheese" and AN UTTER DISGRACE.
The blackened shrimp was ALSO a DISGRACE. It was rubbery and salty, not cooked properly, and was sautéed in possibly nothing more than black pepper. Dry, terrible, grey, a tragic rendition of "blackened shrimp," and lined up on the side of the container, whereas, it should have been incorporated into the dish, or placed on top.
THE ENTIRE PRESENTATION WAS EMBARRASSING and we -sadly- found it revolting to eat.
The Tex-Mex Shrimp Salad was AWFUL as well. Very unharmonious flavors, and the shrimp DID NOT PAIR WELL with the salad, which itself was too heavy on the rice and very paltry on the vegetables, beans, corn.
Shear waste of $$, and we will probably never try Applebees again.
(Left this review on Google last year as well)
