Breakfast Republic is the first place I ever had Cafe de Olla and it blew my mind (really cool food history, too!). The Shrimp & Grits is my go-to with celiac disease and my partner has tried several offerings and loved them all—Protein Lover Scramble had a maple bacon situation that hit home for us as former Canadian residents too. If I could kiss the whole kitchen on the head, I would!

Sadly, we received no cutlery after repeated requests. My kids now have permanent Buttermilk Pancake hands. Also, no butter or syrup given. Super dry Baklava Pancakes. Overdone Portuguese Linguisa Sausage . Sad pancake hands. Applewood smoked Bacon was a very small serving- 3 slices. The Seasonal Fruit Plate was packaged in a really large container, so it was pretty shaken up when we got it.

If I could give this place 50 stars, I would. I have celiac disease and it's really hard to find good breakfast options outside of eggs. I had been dreaming about coming back here since 2019 (my first time, at the San Diego location) and my order today did not disappoint! The shrimp and grits were a symphony of savory and umami flavors and the red booch was delicious and well-balanced (not to sweet). I really wanted a cafe de olla again and they sent us an extra "for the wait" so my partner is hooked now too. I wish I could high five the entire staff and thank them, I am literally crying into my food bc it's so good.

Get your Protein Lover with a touch of sweet from the onions. Nothing quite slaps like Fresh squeezed Orange juice thats made to order. Holy cow. Small but mighty.
