RIP OFF! Overpriced, low-quality fast food.
This is my first time ordering from Cava and it will definitely be my last. There are a lot of Mediterranean restaurants I like in LA, varying in price point, like Open Sesame on La Brea, Bossa Nova, Delphi Greek in Westwood, the Pita House in Venice, & Zankou Chicken. I was excited to try a new place.
I had heard of Cava so I ordered on Door Dash & OMG it was such a disappointment.
To be specific, I ordered a salad bowl w/ spinach, grilled chicken, avocado, hummus, crazy feta dip, roasted eggplant dip, olives, Persian cucumber, and tomato & cucumber, with yogurt dill dressing. Also an extra Crazy Feta Dip and Roasted Eggplant Dip —each almost $4.
Even though I ordered and paid for the Full-Sized portion, the salad was half the size of the pictures on the menu.
The salad had ample spinach, but small portions of the other ingredients. If I hadn’t ordered the extra dips, I wouldn’t have noticed them in the salad at all, the portions were so small—about a tablespoon each—& the extras were half the size you would expect for the money—& they were salty & over-flavored.
The chicken was disgusting—super gristly and inedible---and over-seasoned to disguise the bad quality of the meat. Also, it was oily—but not with some wonderful, fresh Greek olive oil. Instead, it was some tasteless, low-quality, greasy oil that got all over the rest of the salad.
The one redeeming item was the yogurt dill dressing— nicely balanced.
I ordered 2 drinks & only received one—the cucumber mint lime. This was not a lovely, refreshing cucumber-flavored water you might be given on a spa day—It was a cup of water with some pulp at the bottom that tasted like a dirty cucumber—no hint of mint whatsoever.
The $3 brownies—(which deceivingly appear to be normal-sized brownies on the menu)—are flat & 2 square inches!! (My friend rightly calls them bite-size) Also they are dry & tasteless.
Omg and don't even try the salted chocolate oat cookie! It seriously tastes like a mouthful of bran! You are forewarned!
Door Dash refunded me $13.50. So I’m still out $33 for this nauseating experiment. This is the first time I’ve had to throw out food that I’ve ordered, but it was so gross I couldn’t eat it. Thankfully, Bossa Nova is open late.
