The thoid of July, 2025

On this, the “special” birthday of yours truly, I decided to search inside as to what I’d enjoy for dinner. My inner self spoke, and I listened…thus I chose wisely. Mezze & Mooore II tantalized me palate more than a beckoning belly dancer’s eyes. And from what I ordered, me tummy’s satiated moans echoed from within its walls. My tastebuds also seconded this. Their Lamb Shish Kebab plate was the bedrock of my order: Grilled lamb cubes, with green bell pepper & red onions were tender & juicy, subtly seasoned, just as the rice it sat upon. And their hummus complimented all this, along with the simply-dressed salad of arugula & tomato…yum. I further gamboled with a trio of mezze: Muhammara—a roasted, red bell pepper “dip”; Baba Ganoush—a roasted eggplant, with tahini & stuff; and finally Mutabal—which is smoked eggplant with green & red peppers with more stuff, which included olive oil, lemon jus, caramelized walnuts, & Mediterranean seasonings, delicately applied. And their pita bread was as warm & soft as a summer’s a breeze caressing one’s cheek. I wanted other items to try but I decided tactfully, allowing the other items for the next time. I’m enjoying all this while sipping on an aged Bordeaux, from Paauillac, as it is a special birthday…for today I’m seventy-four! Thank you Mezze & Mooore…!
PS: I must admit to spiking the mutabal with a wee bit, a tiny soupçon of this Ras Al Hanout seasoning mix I just got, to elevate the eggplant . Which made me think of my mother and how she would char then mash the eggplants, before adding all the good stuff my grandmother taught her, when I was a little squirt.
