These Steamed Shrimp Mandu may have been some of, if not THE best Korean dumplings I've ever had, and I eat Korean food daily, and have been for over 30 years. The filling was fantastic, both texturally as well as with regards to the balance, the wrapper was thin but maintained a wonderful bite, but the hot chili oil absolutely took it to the next level.
The Spicy Tuna Tartare with that gochujang butter was an excellent take on landing in the middle between the traditional European/American-style tartare and the Korean-style however, I was hoping they'd lean more heavily into the Korean-style with more emphasis on the beef texture (incl possibly freezing) and perhaps some Asian pear to help balance out the richness, especially with the slightly heavy-hand on the sesame oil in addition to the butter. Still fantastic overall and would definitely order again.
I am by no means a vegan but I order vegan and vegetarian when I'm truly interested in a restaurant's story, and to quickly (and sometimes inaccurately) get a gauge of whether the chef is still cheffing or whether they're onto the restaurateuring phase of their lives. Given, Korean food is, traditionally, largely vegan and vegetarian, this Vegan Bulgogi Rice Bowl blew me away! The vegetables with their individual marinades, seasonings, and textures were great and the rice was excellent as well but that "Vegan Bulgogi" tasted more like a great Korean shortrib than most of the actual Korean shortribs I've had in years now. I'm still not convinced that it was not actually an animal-based product but if it was, absolute magic. Bravo.
I'm recommending Nami to anyone who cares to listen and anyone who asks and will definitely be back whenever, and every time, I'm in town.
