Thin Crust Traditional Pizza
Rectangular Pizza using Poppy's Traditional Round Homemade Dough, Poppy's Pizza Sauce and Poppy's Special Cheese Blend. 13" Wide x 18" Long. Cut into 20 squares.
Detroit Style is a square Pizza, it is a deeper dish pizza. The dough is placed in the pan, then we add cheese, then the toppings and last, the sauce. It is baked to perfection as the cheese caramelizes to become the crust. History: Detroit Style Pizza History: Gus and Anna Guerra created the style in 1946 at Buddy’s Pizza. Gus used his wife’s mother’s recipe for the dough and cooked it in a steel pan, from there it was history, everyone has been fighting over corner pieces since then. Gus went on to start Cloverleaf and his head chef at Buddy’s Louis Tourtois started Louis, all 3 are Detroit favorites, we can only hope to aspire to be close to the greats!
