So Cheesy Review
Location: Warren Avenue, Dearborn, MI
Visited: Wednesday, 5:00 PM
Travel Time: 40 minutes from Canton
I recently visited So Cheesy, a burger truck parked next to a shop on Warren Avenue in Dearborn, after reading a glowing article about their specialty burger in the Detroit Free Press. Unfortunately, my experience did not live up to the hype.
Menu & Pricing:
The sandwiches are priced between $14 to $17, with an additional $3 for fries. This means a single meal can easily cost $20 before adding a drink. Despite the relatively high prices, the menu was disappointingly limited. Several items were unavailable, including the chicken parm, shrimp Po'Boi, and soup. Additionally, their smoker was broken, so no smoked wings were available.
Service & Wait Time:
Arriving at 5:00 PM on a Wednesday, I was surprised to encounter a 40-minute wait at the beginning of service. Given the small menu and the fact that we were the only customers in the attached dining space, this wait time was excessive.
Food Quality:
After the long wait, the food was underwhelming. The truffle fries, which I had high hopes for, came out underdone and cold. This was particularly disappointing given the premium pricing.
Overall Experience:
So Cheesy was unremarkable and did not justify the 40-minute drive from Canton. The combination of high prices, limited menu options, long wait times, and subpar food quality made for a disappointing visit. It’s worth noting that the business may have changed ownership in January 2024, according to their Facebook page, which could explain some of the inconsistencies.
