I have no problem with the taste. their food is good and tastey. My problem is the portions and price.
The curry and rice plate was $19 but honestly looked like 10 or 12 dollars worth.
Gyoza is expensive in most japanese restaurants. they give you 4 here for $7. You could eat all 4 in half a minute. imo each gyoza is worth $1. They should give you 7 for $7.
The matcha cheesecake was probably the highlight of my meal they really blended the flavors and texture perfectly. My problem? it is astonishingly small. Its practically miniature. Crazy thing is Id probably order it again because of the taste but come on... I guess they are trying to look "gourmet"? $7 is gourmet prices as well.

WOW. wow wow wow. Ordered for the first time and I was amazed. Best udon I've ever had in LA. I ordered the CHICKEN UDON, mild, and it wasn't spicy. The packaging was secure and the soup was HOT; ready to eat. The chicken was cleaned well, and doesn't have a weird aftertaste. Usually with ramens or soups that has been my issue---protein isn't cleaned properly so it tastes funky. And the amount of udon noodles was perfect! Looking forward to dining one day and inviting friends to try this yummy spot.

The CHICKEN KARAAGE doesn't ok anything like the photo. to be honest it's rather strange looking. it wasn't crispy but the taste was ok. the CURRY UDON at first glance was disappointing. The broth was thin and I'm used to my curry being a bit thicker. However, the flavor was good and though the portion size was less than I expected for the price, I'll order again.

This cute Japanese restaurant is my absolute favorite and I love how they are available late night. The Vegan Tomato Ramen is the best comfort food ever and it usually lasts me two meals. Their house salad is also a very generous portion and the dressing is delicious!
I read online that their Japantown location is closing, which is an institution! Really hoping they are able to pull through and that the neighborhood and long time customers will rally to support them.
