Hühner Zigeuner Schnitzel mit Reis und Gemüse was crispy and flavorful, and the sauce had just the right kick. House Made Sacher Torte was great. loved it.

That was the worst Wiener Schnitzel I have eaten in the US so far. The meat was overcooked and full of tendons. The French fries were overcooked as well. Of course Doordash does not provide me any partial refund. So $28 wasted. I ordered other dishes from that restaurant before and the quality was ok, but not great either. I guess this is the last time I ordered from there.

23andMe says I'm at least 33% German. I've never eaten German food, so I decided to try this place, since I live in San Jose. I ordered the Paprikagulasch mit Spätzle und Rotkohl and it's one of the best meals I've had in a long time. The sauce makes it very hearty. The meat is tender. I don't taste gristle at all. It's lean. I got about ~6 large chunks of meat. Imagine it as a really, really good Yankee Pot Roast.
However the sixth piece of meat tasted very different. Extremely rough. About as tough a piece of meat as I've ever seen. I'm not sure why it was there. All the other pieces of meat had obviously been slow cooked and were about as soft and tender as ice cream. Yet this piece was out of place, sort of like leaving in the bone. I can't see how they expected me to eat that, but maybe some of their customers like having at least a little bit of whatever that is.
The noodles and purple stuff were also great. Something about the noodles reminds me of my childhood, but I can't quite place my finger on it. They also appear to be hand made from scratch. You can't buy this off a Sysco truck and boil it in a bag. These San Jose Germans obviously take great pride in their craft. Look at the attention to detail in their photos. The glistening of the sauce. The lighting and the shadows.
I'll most definitely order again.

Food was ok, but a sad imitation of German food. (Yes, I've been to Germany and Austria several times.) The Jägerschnitzel was tough and thicker than it should be, though the breading was flavorful and thin, as it should be. It was also not really that big of a portion. No leftovers, to be sure. The Spätzle was more like noodles than traditional spätzle, but again, the flavor was ok though not exciting--and I love spätzle. Where the whole meal was let down was the mushroom wine gravy. They weren't kidding when they said it was made with white wine--that was all that it tasted of and nothing else. It kind of killed the flavor of the rest of the dish, whether meat or spätzle, that it was put with. The Sauerbraten was again, fine, but a very small bit of meat. For these prices ($77 after tax/tip/fee, even with free delivery), I expected more. We won't order again.

The Schweinshaxe - Baked Pork Shank - mit Kartoffelsalat und Sauerkraut is a must buy! Delicious, fall off the bone and perfectly juicy. The portion really is HUGE, easily enough for three to four meals.
