I treat myself to takeout every Friday night. Is it the healthiest habit? Probably not. But it’s my little ritual. Last night, I ordered from Wild Thyme—and wow, it absolutely exceeded my expectations. At one point, I even turned to my boyfriend and said, “This is the best takeout I’ve ever had.” No exaggeration.
You can truly taste the quality, love, and flavor in every single bite.
This was especially exciting for me because, as someone who is Lebanese and grew up in a Lebanese kitchen, I’ve had my fair share of dishes like shawarma, hummus, and falafel—but these were made in a different way than I’m used to. It was also my first time trying Georgian food, which made this experience even more special. I’ll definitely be back to support Wild Thyme again, maybe tonight.
Beef Shawarma Bowl – Easily enough food for two meals. The container was absolutely packed, and every bite was excellent. I especially loved the addition of banana peppers—it added just the right amount of tang and brightness.
Side of Hummus and Pita Chips – The hummus was smooth, creamy, and had a hint of something unexpected—maybe a touch of curry powder? Whatever it was, it wasn’t overpowering; more like a subtle dusting that gave it a warm, earthy twist. (The pita chips were the individual bag of Stacy’s.)
Falafel – Solid 7/10. Slightly on the dry side, but still flavorful and satisfying.
Khachapuri – The only item I tried that didn’t have a bold flavor punch, but it was still delectable. Soft, cheesy, and comforting.
Napoleon – Light, crispy, creamy, and dangerously easy to eat. Word of warning: check yourself in the mirror afterward. I had powdered sugar all over my face and looked like a full-blown crack addict riding a sugar high. Worth it.
Honey Cake – A total standout. 10/10. This dessert was perfectly layered, with honey-soaked cake layers and a lightly sweetened cream filling in the middle, also with plenty of walnuts inbetween the layers. The flavor and texture balance was spot-on, and the portion was huge—like, the size of my head. I had to actively stop myself from inhaling the whole slice in one sitting.
The only downside was that my delivery arrived about 30 minutes later than expected—even though I’m just a mile away—but the driver let me know the restaurant was busy (which, honestly, is a good sign). With food and quality this impressive, I can absolutely forgive the delay and will continue to support this amazing local gem.
